Summer Inchies

Evening all (like the flowers? Gorgeous, aren't they??!), just a quick pop in to let you know about my recent inchie making marathon. From what I've heard from the lovely ladies at MixedMedia ATC_UK I should be expecting quite a few inchie sets plopping through the letter box over the next few days (highly exciting!) so I hope you don't mind me going on about the subject.
I seem to excel at last minute makes, as I have literally had months to make these and have finally got round to it a few days before the deadline!

Once I got going though, I was on a roll and made several more than I needed- great to keep for any RAKs, or to just send to friends in letters (I still regularly use snail mail).

So what do you think? I think they capture the essence of summer, lots of green (helped by the  mostly endless rain!) and happy yellows, fabulous stuff!!

As well as Alison's inchies, I now also have Wendy's which are just as beautiful and in true Wendy style- her's are always perfectly stitched and made using really lovely colours.

I am looking forwards to the weekend, especially tomorrow (Saturday) as I am in Uckfield carnival with the guides. We are going for a 'Best of British' theme and I shall be wearing--------

sorry, I was half way through writing that sentence when suddenly there was a massive BOOOOOOM from outside. Fireworks!!! I rushed outside and tried to take some photos for you all, although I wasn't in a fantastic position (the best position is hanging out of the bathroom window).

Plus...(!) on returning from the depths of the garden firework display I was presented with a rather cute sugar mouse biscuit!! (Apologies about the terrible photography)

Hmm, this post is turning out much longer than I anticipated, and I am keeping you in suspense about my outfit! The sentence I was halfway through was going to continue with ------ red, white and blue, with a union jack plastic bowler hat from Tesco. I may even try my hand at some face paint!! (If I can find any that is.)
Hope you've all enjoyed your evenings as much as I have mine!!

Things Around The House

Afternoon!!! I haven't done one of these posts for a while, showing you small creative and beautiful snippets of home life- thought it high time I did one for you!
The flowers are a late birthday present for my mum, aren't they gorgeous? So many bright colours!!

Speaking of late birthday presents, I met up with a group of friends at the weekend and was besieged with presents! A rather lovely surprise, especially as the presents were all so thoughtful and very me!

A bag of bundled wool in all sorts of colours!!

A gorgeous spotty mug, which matches my new bunting! Sweetly smelling candles and a pretty heart keyring. Definitely worth the wait!!

Do you remember I showed you The Mother's apple and pear collection? She started making these in December last year...and is still going!! The pile has reduced and expanded several times over this year as collections are given away as presents and then stocks are built back up for the next giveaway. Currently, she is on a huge production ready for Christmas presents and the like- the bowl is spilling over with colourful fruits!

There are even two new colour ranges!

I have also been working very hard on my new crocheted blanket. I now have four different kinds of squares, although still have to work out how to put them all together as they are different sizes, some being slightly rectangular more than square.

And just quickly before I go, I have had the first set of summer inchies!!! Whey!! From the hugely organised Alison (I haven't made mine yet...)...

Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did mine!!!

Guide Camp

Eurgh, isn't the weather nasty today, all drizzly, windy and grey. Luckily at the beginning of the week we were still in our heat wave so, apart from some tiny random rain showers, camping outside wasn't half bad!

Our camp had a Caribbean theme (thought up months ago when the weather was diabolical) which fitted in nicely with the sun. (Do you like the flag I drew above?) We made lots of decorations to brighten up the tents and huts- some of the decorations the girls came up with were truly splendid!!

 A balloon cat!

A palm tree! With coconuts!

Each tent had to come up with a name and a flag...

Caribbean starfish...

The girls also had a go at the friendship bracelets I made the other week- although I don't have any photos of the finished ones-, simple beaded bracelets, earrings...and lots of other things. I think they all enjoyed it which is the main thing. I enjoyed it too!!

Post Holiday Post

One of the best things about coming home from a holiday is the pile of post that is lying tantalisingly on the doormat. Of course, most of it is junk but then you get the little gem lying amongst the rubbish...like ATCs for instance!!

The above are my returns for the 'At The Seaside' swap, and below are the 'Butterflies' returns.

All very lovely and creative. Did I show you the Vintage Kitchen returns? I can't seem to find them in my posts....I'll show them to you (possibly again) anyway- can never have too much of a good thing!!

Oh, and one other thing- not technically post- my Dragonfly bowl has been glazed and finished!! It's gorgeous, even if I do say so myself. I do feel that it would have benefited from bubble paint to enhance the wings but still, I am pleased with it. What do you think?

I am off again for a few days starting tomorrow, to guide camp. Hopefully the weather will stay nice- I hate camping in the rain- think I'll take my wellies just in case though. Should be a good; we are making the friendship bracelets I have researched, as well as decorating some starfish and making Caribbean themed costumes!!
